Why do Lima use brackish water plants?

Lima, Peru’s densely populated capital, borders the Pacific Ocean. However, due to its geographical location, groundwater in some inland and suburban areas has a high salinity content, creating a typical brackish water area. This water has a bitter taste, and long-term consumption can place a continuous strain on the human metabolic system and organ function. It also fails to meet water standards for crop irrigation and small-scale processing enterprises.

The brackish water desalination plant shipped this time was customized based on the characteristics of Lima’s environment:

    • High-efficiency desalination:
    • We utilize a new generation of reverse osmosis membrane modules. And the system removes excess salt, heavy metal ions, and other harmful substances from raw water. Taking advantage of the high salinity of Lima’s brackish water, the system maintains a stable desalination rate exceeding 97%.
    • Stable water production:
    • With a water output of 1,000 liters per hour, the system can meet the daily drinking water needs of a community of approximately 500-800 people, while also providing irrigation for small farms and food processing plants in the surrounding area.
    • Adaptability to the local environment:
    • Due to the large diurnal temperature swings and dry climate in parts of Lima, the system’s exterior is constructed of 304 stainless steel, and its core components are treated with corrosion and moisture-resistant finishes.

Strict control of the entire process ensures equipment quality

To ensure the equipment could quickly adapt to the local environment and be operational upon arrival in Lima. We conducted extensive pre-shipment preparations:

① We conducted in-depth discussions with local partners in Lima to obtain six months of water quality monitoring data from the region. We then used this data to adjust the equipment’s pretreatment parameters accordingly.
② Before shipment, the equipment underwent a full-load test simulating Lima’s water quality, with real-time monitoring of key indicators such as water output, desalination rate, and fluoride removal rate.
③ We packaged the equipment in a custom, moisture-proof, and shock-resistant wooden crate to prevent damage during long-distance transportation.
④ We shipped the equipment, along with detailed installation and maintenance manuals (in English and Spanish), and a sufficient spare parts kit.  We also provide 24-hour online remote installation assistance to assist customers in installing the equipment.
